About Alejandro Ziegler Quartet:

Alejandro Ziegler, Pianist and Composer from Buenos Aires, Argentina with a degree in orchestral music and music composition, performed for 2 years with the famed Buenos Aires City orchestra ”Orquesta Escuela de Tango” under Emilio Balcarce and Nestor Marconi. Tonight’s concert will showcase some of his own compositions which come alive through surprising arrangements and intimate interplay. Alejandro taught workshops on tango musicality and history in many universities around the world.

Since 2007 the Alejandro Ziegler Quartet has developed its own unique style of Tango music reflecting both innovation and tradition. Their repertoire of classical Tangos performed in the style of the most famous orchestra’s such as Troilo, Pugliese, Di Sarli, Piazzolla was recorded on their first CD in 2008 and on another in 2011.

The musicians are: Alejandro Ziegler, piano, conductor, composer; Javier Stromann, bandoneon; Ignacio Quiroz, violin and Ariel Obregon, doublebass. The ensemble is a new synthesis of the traditional tango orchestra. On stage the communication between the 4 musicians is expressive, playful, focused. They flirt with a chamber musical expression without ever leaving the unpredictable spontaneity and improvisation within popular music.

The Alejandro Ziegler Quartet is gaining acclaim worldwide, having completed 4 European tours and performed in many important festivals. This is their first USA tour and we are very excited and honored to welcome them to San Francisco! www.alejandroziegler.com
