On August 26 during our weekly Tango Revolution event at Caffe Trieste our friends Thomas Yee (violin) and Jose Rodriguez (guitar) will join our other musicians for a small preview of their debut CD "Historia" set to release on Sunday September 9, 2007. It is possible that there will be a tv crew filming at some time.
The days are shortening and the coffee and wine are good; come join us for a great time with music, dance and friendly conversation!
Daniel Binelli, the great bandoneon musician, after lingering with us for 3 hours, gave our event his stamp of approval: he whispered in my ear that the atmosphere of Tango Revolution reminded him of a 1920's Parisian Cafe.
Come see for yourself.

Tango Revolution is a weekly neighborhood educational project to
offer anyone the opportunity to learn and experience the social
aspect of Argentine Tango dance, music and history. By holding
the event free of charge in an accessible café on a Sunday afternoon
Tango Revolution encourages the spontaneous inclusion of music
and dance in our everyday life as a communal experience.
Tango Revolution is a program of Intimate Embrace Tango, which
envisions Argentine Tango as a relational matrix of connection to
ourselves, each other and the world. We organize classes,
workshops and social awareness-and fundraising events around
critical issues of our time.
We offer the beautiful connection between human beings in the
Tango Embrace as a common language and antidote against the
isolation, separation and fearful existence we are led to believe
is necessary. What better way to connect with each other across
our differences than the non-verbal power of an embrace,
listening and moving together as one?
Come watch, listen or join in the dance! All levels and ages are
welcome.
Donations for the artists accepted.

Special Birthday Celebration on Sunday July 15!
On Sunday July 15 TANGO REVOLUTION invites you to a wonderful afternoon of music and dance to celebrate Sonja's birthday.
We will start in Dolores Park (18th & Dolores Street) at 4pm with a free concert by the SF Symphony featuring Daniel Binelli on bandoneon.
Come join me for a sip of champagne!
To find my spot in the crowd look for Buschoccio (a plastic blow-up doll on a stick, resembling George Bush but with a loooong nose, like Pinocchio)
After the concert our Tango Revolution music and dance event at Cafe Trieste will take place from 6-9pm.
Come sample their excellent food and share birthday cake with me!

Come watch a movie, be inspired by a presentation, take a beginning Tango class or practice your dance in a relaxing, non-intimidating atmosphere. Non-dancers can watch the moves and immerse themselves in the beautiful Tango music.
We extend an open invitation to aspiring Tango musicians to jam together and practice their skills with the dancers in a receptive and energetic environment.
We hope that Tango Revolution is a fertile ground for learning about Argentine Tango, a dance and music of immigrants, which continues to cross the boundaries of race, culture, language and social status. Where both beginning and accomplished dancers and musicians can share the floor without obvious hierarchy. Where all gender pairings are encouraged and anyone may ask anyone to dance.

Tango Revolution joins Ghetto Gourmet Sunday June 24, 2007
We are still in the process of negotiating a new pattern of use of the Station 40 event space for our Tango Revolution evening.
Check your e-mail regularly, go to www.tangorevolution.blogspot.com for updates, or call (415) 661.1852
On a personal note, if there is anything this country teaches me it is to roll with the punches!
In the meantime, on SUNDAY JUNE 24, the location of our next Tango Revolution event is:
SYNERGY SCHOOL
1387 Valencia Street (@25th St.) in SF
Nearest Bart: 24th & Mission
Because I participate in a private dinner event beforehand, Tango Revolution will open its doors from 9-11pm (or later?) for open dancing only (no class this time)
Entrance: $3-$10 sliding scale
Live music by Thomas Yee and Jose Rodriguez!
To raise awareness on World Refugee Day (June 20) Tango Revolution will donate a percentage of its proceeds to the International Rescue Committee (www.theirc.org)
If you want to participate in the private dinner event please check out: http://ggtango624.eventbrite.com
I highly recommend it!
I hope to see you on the dance floor,
Sonja
P.S. Please, stay tuned for further developments around Tango Revolution during the summer!

Tango Revolution celebrates Mother's Day May 13, 2007
Dear Tango Friends,
Tango Revolution has grown a lot over the last weeks. During National Dance Week over 70 people visited each event.
Great performances and presentations were offered and we heard wonderful feedback from people. What touched me the most was to see so many happy faces and feel such good energy! We thank everyone for their presence and participation.
For Mother's Day we have another beautiful event planned. Bring your mom, grandma and especially any woman you know who is planning to become a mother.
This Sunday's event is a benefit for Christina Ladas, a Tango teacher/dancer in our Bay Area community who was taken to the hospital with an acute kidney disease. All proceeds of the event will go towards her healthcare fund. Please, if you can, be generous with your donations at the door.
To continue to keep things going smoothly, we need more volunteer help. Please let me know if you can help out tomorrow and/or during future events.
We can use your help for:
*taking the donations at the door
*helping out behind the bar
*someone with good ears who can listen to the doorbell and press the buzzer during the evening.
*set-up before the event and organization after the event
Of course there can be a rotatation so that everyone has a chance to dance and enjoy the event.
